In a game that seemed as though the San Francisco 49ers were going to run away with, it was Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs that ended up being the story of the night as his team walked away with a 31-20 victory. Andy Reid finally got the elusive title that he had been looking for ever since he was an assistant with the Packers back in the 90s. Mahomes capped one of the best seasons in NFL history and the torch was seemingly past from the established Tom Brady to the young Mahomes as the best Quarterback in the NFL.
According to the Nielson ratings that were released this year, it seems as if NFL fans were also happy with the quality of play that was displayed in Super Bowl LIV. When you factor in those who watched on the regular stream, on ESPN Deportes, and different online streams, this year’s Super Bowl amassed 102.7 million viewers, which was a 13% bump from the year before. In my own opinion, I would have to say that Americans are happy that there was another team winning other than the New England Patriots. Tom Brady and Bill Bellichick have run the NFL over the last two decades and it was almost like a breath of fresh air to see a new team win for once. Mahomes solidified himself to all of America as one of the league’s most exciting young players and may have exceeded Brady as the most dominant player in the NFL.
As this year heads into 2021, this Super Bowl will most likely end up being the most watched event of 2020 and that includes the upcoming Presidential election that will be coming up later this year. Patrick Mahomes did his thing for Kansas City and proved to a large portion of America that he is the future of the NFL.
